The Best way to Make 1000 a month Blogging

The Best Way to Make $1000 a Month Blogging

What would an extra $1,000 a month do for you? Would you pay off bills? Maybe you could afford a nicer car or place to live. Perhaps you would save it to travel, or squirrel it away for retirement. Over and over I keep finding people who make this much money every month using just their blog. In this post we will scientifically discover the best way to Make $1000 a Month Blogging.

Back when I started blogging over 15 years ago, I did it to show off. I wanted to showcase my travels, or my photo portfolio, or even my collections. I didn’t really pay attention to SEO or traffic, or keywords. I was just doing it because it was fun!

But, then one day about 10 years ago I decided to put an Amazon affiliate link into one of my blog posts. I was writing about moving into a new house, and decided to link to a list of tools that I thought was essential for every new home owner.

At the time I didn’t really think much about it.

But then, about 4 months later I got a check in the mail from Amazon for just over $100.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

I logged into my account and saw that people had been visiting my site, clicking on the Amazon link, and then buying things on Amazon. The whole affiliate thing was working!

It took 3-4 months for me to earn enough to make the minimum payout, but from then on, I was hooked! I began to optimize every post for Amazon affiliate links.

Sadly, I decided to delete that blog, and all the affiliate links that came with it, and ended that revenue stream.

But I began to concentrate on other Niches, ones that I knew even better, and I began to watch my affiliate income grow!

For many years I only concentrated on affiliate income. But me, the slow learner that I am, began to notice that other bloggers were making way more than I was.

I learned they have other income streams – techniques to make money on-line that I wasn’t using ( but should have been)

Obviously I was intrigued and want to know if it is something I can do.

Let me tell you IT IS!

I was interested in finding out how other people make $1,000 per month with their blogs, so I did what everyone else does, and I Googled it. I checked out the top three results and made a notes about how each blogger made their first thousand dollars from their blog.

I have their results below:

Case Studies – How 3 bloggers Made $1000 Per Month

I’ve done the research on which blogs make at least $1,000 per month and these are three of my favorites because they go into depth on how they made their money!

I really like to dive deep on blog income reports and learn from other people who are trying the same thing. I want to learn what worked from them, and what didn’t. I try to find out their specific blogging tactics and techniques so I don’t have to reinvent the wheel and I can achieve success (and passive income) faster!

Diversify Your Blog Income Streams

These other bloggers were making way more than I was because they had diversified their income streams.

Why didn’t I think of that?

In case you are wondering, diversification is the act of enlarging your range of products or services.

Most people think diversification is an important way to avoid financial pitfalls. You want to diversify your investments so if one goes down, you still have something. Another way I like to think of diversification is the old saying “don’t put your eggs in one basket”

Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

I see diversification in another way, too!

I was making money with my blog, but I wasn’t making as much as I could! I wasn’t diversified in the different income streams!

These other bloggers had multiple income streams – so they were protected if their Amazon status changed, but they could also potentially 4X their income!

Looking back, if I had diversified, instead of making $100 in a month, for literally the same amount of work, I could have made $400!

Here are some of the ways bloggers diversify and make more money with their blogs:

  • Ads Revenue
  • Digital Products
  • Client Work
  • and of course Affiliate Marketing

Making Money with Ads From Your Blog

Monetizing your blog with ads is one of the most straightforward ways to generate income online. However, I personally find ads to be very distracting.

By leveraging ad networks, you can earn money each time a visitor views or clicks on an ad displayed on your site. This income stream is particularly appealing because it can provide a steady flow of passive income with minimal ongoing effort. Whether you are a new blogger or have been building your online presence for a while, incorporating ads into your monetization strategy can be a powerful way to boost your earnings. In this section, we’ll explore the basics of ad monetization, the types of ads you can use, and tips to maximize your ad revenue.

However, this category also includes sites like YouTube, where ads are shown before, during, and after videos.

YouTube ads work by allowing creators to monetize their videos through the YouTube Partner Program.

Here is the Eligibility Requirements for Creators as of the date of this post:

  • at least 1,000 subscribers, and
  • 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months
  • or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days

These ads come in various formats, including pre-roll ads (played before the video), mid-roll ads (played during the video), and display ads (shown alongside the video).

When viewers interact with these ads, such as by watching them for a certain duration or clicking on them, the creator earns a portion of the ad revenue generated.

This system allows creators to earn money based on the number of views and interactions their content receives, providing a scalable income source as their channel grows.

Creating Digital Products as an Income Source

Digital products offer a lucrative and scalable income stream for bloggers looking to diversify their earnings. Unlike physical products, digital products such as e-books, templates, courses, and printables can be created once and sold repeatedly with minimal ongoing effort.

This allows bloggers to generate passive income while providing valuable resources to their audience. By effectively marketing and promoting these digital offerings, bloggers can tap into a global market, increasing their potential revenue without the complexities of inventory management and shipping logistics.

You can see all my digital products by visiting the tab in my navigation menu.

The 7 Most popular Digital Products of 2024

  1. Online Courses: Comprehensive educational courses on various topics, often with video lessons, quizzes, and interactive elements.
  2. E-books: Digital books on a wide range of subjects, from self-help and fiction to niche industry guides.
  3. Templates and Printables: Ready-made templates for planners, budgets, resumes, and other organizational tools.
  4. Stock Photos and Graphics: High-quality images and design elements for use in marketing, blogging, and social media.
  5. Membership Sites: Exclusive content or community access in exchange for a recurring subscription fee.
  6. Software and Apps: Tools and applications that solve specific problems or enhance productivity.
  7. Music and Audio Files: Background music, sound effects, and audio tracks for content creators and businesses.

Making Money with Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a powerful way to monetize your blog or online presence by promoting products or services and earning a commission on sales generated through your referral links.

This is also the way I started making money online.

It’s a win-win situation where you get paid for recommending products you love and trust, while companies reach new customers through your endorsement.

This method is particularly appealing because it allows you to create passive income—once you’ve set up your affiliate links within your content, they can continue to generate revenue for you with minimal ongoing effort.

Affiliate marketing is like planting a small tree every day. At first, each tree seems insignificant, just a tiny sapling in a vast landscape. However, with consistent effort and nurturing, these trees begin to grow, branch out, and flourish. Over time, as you continue to plant and care for them, you’ll find that your once modest collection has transformed into a thriving forest. Similarly, each affiliate link you integrate into your content might not yield immediate, substantial income, but with persistence and strategic growth, your affiliate marketing efforts can eventually create a dense and profitable revenue stream that provides you with passive income every month.

Whether you’re a seasoned blogger or just starting, affiliate marketing can be a lucrative addition to your income strategy, helping you achieve financial goals while providing value to your audience.

Finding Client Work with a Blog

A blog helps to find client work by showcasing your expertise, building your credibility, and attracting potential clients through valuable content.

It’s like a 24/7 advertisement showcasing your skills.

By regularly publishing posts that demonstrate your knowledge and skills in your niche, you create a portfolio of your work that potential clients can explore.

Additionally, a well-maintained blog can improve your website’s SEO, making it easier for clients to find you through search engines. Engaging blog content can also drive traffic to your site, where visitors can learn more about your services and potentially reach out for collaboration.

Through consistent and informative blogging, you position yourself as a trusted authority, making it more likely that clients will seek you out for your expertise.

Here are five examples of client work:

  1. Content Creation: Writing blog posts, articles, or social media content for a client’s website or online platforms. This includes creating engaging, SEO-optimized content that aligns with the client’s brand and marketing goals.
  2. Graphic Design: Designing logos, website layouts, marketing materials, and other visual content for clients. This can include anything from social media graphics to full-scale branding packages.
  3. Digital Marketing Services: Managing and executing digital marketing campaigns for clients. This can encompass SEO services, email marketing, pay-per-click advertising, and social media management to help clients grow their online presence and reach their target audience.
  4. Web Development: Building and maintaining websites for clients. This includes designing the user interface, coding, and ensuring the site is responsive and user-friendly. Web developers may also provide ongoing support and updates to ensure the site runs smoothly.
  5. Consulting and Coaching: Providing expert advice and guidance to clients in your area of expertise. This can include business strategy, marketing advice, technical support, or personal coaching sessions to help clients achieve their goals.

Conclusion

In conclusion, making $1,000 a month from your blog is a realistic and attainable goal if you diversify your income streams and leverage multiple strategies. As Sarah Marie illustrates through her personal experience, combining ads, digital products, affiliate marketing, and client work can create a stable and growing income. Starting with one or two income streams and gradually expanding ensures manageable growth and sustained progress. Blogs like Fabrizio Van Marciano’s and The She Approach further highlight the importance of actionable advice and consistent effort in building a profitable online presence.

By understanding and implementing various monetization methods, from YouTube ads to affiliate marketing, bloggers can create multiple revenue streams that complement and support each other. Whether you’re selling digital products, providing client services, or engaging in affiliate marketing, the key lies in persistence, continuous learning, and adapting to new opportunities. With dedication and strategic planning, you can transform your blog into a thriving business, much like the successful bloggers who have shared their journeys and insights.
